Your Filling in
4 Simple Steps.
Tooth-coloured fillings are precise, conservative, and completed in a single visit — repairing your tooth without anyone noticing the difference.
Diagnosis & Anaesthetic
We confirm the cavity with an exam and X-ray, then numb the area so the entire procedure is comfortable.
Decay Removal
Decayed tooth structure is carefully removed, keeping the preparation as conservative as possible.
Composite Placement
Shade-matched composite resin is layered into the prepared tooth and cured with a dental light.
Shaping & Polish
The filling is contoured and polished to match your bite and blend naturally with the surrounding tooth.

Frequently
Asked Questions.
Everything you need to know about tooth-coloured fillings.
How do I know if I need a filling?
Signs of a cavity include sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweets, visible dark spots or holes, food catching in a tooth, or pain while chewing. Many cavities have no symptoms at all in their early stages, which is why we check for decay with an exam and X-rays at every routine visit.
Are tooth-coloured fillings as strong as metal fillings?
Modern composite resin is highly durable and, because it bonds directly to the tooth, it actually helps reinforce the remaining tooth structure — something amalgam fillings can't do. For most cavities, composite performs excellently. For very large fillings on back molars under heavy chewing force, we'll discuss whether a crown may serve you better long-term.
Will the filling match my tooth colour exactly?
Yes. We select the composite shade against your natural tooth before we begin, so once it's polished and finished, the filling blends in and is very difficult to spot, even up close.
How long do composite fillings last?
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, tooth-coloured fillings typically last seven to ten years or more. Longevity depends on the filling's size and location, your bite forces, and how well you care for your teeth — we'll monitor each filling at your routine exams.
Will I feel pain during or after the filling?
The procedure itself is done under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn't feel pain during treatment — just some pressure. It's normal to have mild sensitivity to temperature or pressure for a few days afterward as the tooth settles, which resolves on its own.
Does insurance cover tooth-coloured fillings?
Most Canadian dental insurance plans cover composite fillings, often at the same rate as amalgam. We bill directly to all major insurers and will confirm your coverage and any out-of-pocket cost before starting treatment.
