FAQ

Frequently
Asked Questions.

Everything you need to know before your visit.

Do you accept new patients for dental exams?

Yes — we're currently accepting new patients at our Vancouver (Marpole) clinic. Dr. Gianni Pisanu and Dr. Pavan Kooner conduct thorough exams including digital X-rays, gum health assessment, and oral cancer screening. Call (604) 261-8164 to book.

What does a dental exam include?

A comprehensive exam includes a full visual inspection of teeth, gums, and bite; low-radiation digital X-rays; a gum pocket depth assessment; and an oral cancer screening of soft tissues. We review all findings in plain language and provide a personalized care plan.

How often should I get a dental checkup?

We recommend a dental exam and professional cleaning every six months for most adults. Patients with a history of gum disease, frequent cavities, or certain medical conditions may benefit from checkups every three to four months.

Do you bill insurance directly?

Yes. We directly bill all major Canadian insurance providers, as well as the CDCP. Most plans fully cover two routine exams per year. Our team confirms your benefits before your appointment.

Are dental exams painful?

Dental exams are non-invasive and comfortable. The process involves visual inspection, gentle probing of gum pockets, and digital X-rays. We never proceed with treatment without explaining it first and getting your consent.

Do you screen for oral cancer?

Yes — every comprehensive exam includes a thorough oral cancer screening. Our doctors examine your lips, tongue, cheeks, palate, and throat for early warning signs. Early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes.
